Avatar

I finally saw Avatar and I absolutely love the cinematography and the beauty of it. Spectacular computer graphics. But, what lazy writers. I've never seen such cardboard villains. What were the writers thinking? Big bad corporate guy and the toy soldier with tunnel vision. Even I could make it more believable.

That part was so disappointing. They did good going between human and avatar bodies. The belief system was well thought out. But, they kept a good movie from becoming a great movie by turning it into a cliche. Sad.

Now, what does everyone else think? Finished Agatha Ann edits, hope I get a bite from the editor. So hope.

Carol, I saw Avatar for the first time last night and had the same reaction. Its cliched plot kept it from being worthy of Best Picture.

Best graphics and best special effects, yes.

Parts of it reminded me and my family of Pocahontas. Other parts reminded us of any "noble savage who is one with nature meets evil white people who are raping Mother Nature" movie.

All in all, it was disappointing. The plot was not unique and there was nothing new and unique about the movie.

Glad to know I wasn't nuts in my reaction. I could even have dealt with the main plot if the two bad guys had had some motivation. The corporate guy could at least have had some second thoughts and we won't even talk about the military one.
