Don't you worry now. That bright light in the sky over Texas wasn't space debris. No, according to NASA it was merely a comet, meteor, or was that an asteroid, roughly the size of a PICK-UP, the density of CONCRETE, hurtling toward the earth at hundreds of thousands of miles per hour? But don't worry your pretty little heads about it.

Alllllrighty then. No worries matey. Yeah right.

Oh yeah, and then there's the Zombie Banks, right out of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, gobbling up investors as they go. What a world.

The fact that the number of publishers, book stores and books produced is dwindling shouldn't bother me at all, should it? After all, I haven't been creamed by the asteroids or zombie banks yet, so I could still get published by a print publisher couldn't I? Couldn't I?

Progress

Had a good brainstorming session this weekend with some of my writing buds. Have a good start on plotting changeling and want to do a synopsis next as well as character questions. Then I should be ready to get into a fast first draft I hope. Seems to be coming together much better than Wizard. Thank goodness I figured it out before I went any further. I think this is going to go much faster. Will it get me into a brick and mortar store? Am I willing to deal with the time factor of getting into brick and mortar stores in print or stick with an e pub that does print too? The clock is ticking way too loud.

Reading Dogs

A quite funny friend of mine, Dave Wiley, shared the following on a Large Gardian Dogs site when one poor person asked for recommendations of books to read about Samoyed breed dogs.

My Sammie's like to read anything by Dr. Suess. A few of their favorites include - Cat in the hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, and the Cat in the Hat Comes Back.
To generalize, I think as long as you purchase books that rhyme, contain some sort of enemy or edible animal, or food related items, Sammie's will enjoy them.
I also went ahead and laminated the books, since the doggy magazine rack is exposed to the elements. I tried putting it by the door, but then everyone would forget his/her book and I'd have to let them back in and out. Then they'd leave the book outside and I'd have to send them back out for it. It was just too much of a hassle.
Really the hardest part of picking out Samoyed reading material wasn't the content, it was teaching them about the silent E at the end of a word. I don't have any idea what that is so hard to grasp for a Sammy.

Still Here

No, I didn't get blown away by February tornados but we hadn't even done anything to our shelter, not expecting to need it until Apr. or May. Guess I'd better check and give any spiders or snakes a new home.

Lots of damage around and in OKC, Edmond, Lone Grove. Bethany got lucky. We kept power, many people are without. What a mess, as usual. My favorite little shopping center on NW Expressway got some damage. Kept watching news instead of writing last night but have figured out, Wizard is dust, and not Fairy Dust. Not working. Not a YA writer here, too many decades out of HS.

So, Fairy Dust Changeling has begun. Now I have to get down to serious plotting and world building. Wizard gave me some insight into Ande as a teen but won't hold up as a novel and the voice never came through. So onward and upward. Always a killer to kill several thousand words, however. Might try to use the fight scene, a pixie chase scene later.

What's the largest chunk of writing you've had to ditch, or saw in a book that the writer should have gotten rid of?

To E or not to E

e-books that is.

I saw an interesting story regarding music, how CD's are being pushed out of business by music downloads and music stores are closing.

Teen-agers are buying vinyl records. Why? Is the sound better?

No. Its the visceral reaction of people to the ephemeral nature of the digital age.

Don't you love that sentence. It means people want something they can feel touch and smell.

I have ebooks out there, all my published novels are e-books. Soon to be in print, YAY. I'm not knocking e-publishing. I love my Kindle and take it everywhere with me. But, I buy my favorite books in print and hang on to my favorites. When I die, my family will have a fit about the number of print books cluttering my house.

Book lovers want to hold the books in their hands. I really don't think all print book stores will go out of business, and if they did, people would order real books from Amazon,buy them in used book stores.

I put my name into Amazon today, the fiction isn't there yet but my nonfiction is. Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover, Chicken Soup for the Nurses, Sacred Fire. Too cool. Now how cool will it be to see the fiction there also.

Astral Parasites and other relatives.

In the astral world there exists parasitic nasties that are just waiting to latch onto you, make you feel bad and feed off of you. Don't confuse these with astral vermin, astral animals and other more powerful critters.

They can be dealt with and gotten rid of if you are able to meditate, observe your aura, find the connection, gather your energy and burn that parasite off. Wish that would work as well on the other parasites in the world. Watch out for those astral portals and things that sneak in, it could just be the monster under the bed.

Heard some lovely baroque music driving in this morning as well as a wonderful peice by Vauhn Williams that incorporates some English country dances. Just spectacular. He's one of the 20th century composers I do like, along with John Williams, Elfman and Rice,

Writing slow, must get off the but and do it or the book won't ever get done.
